Digital growth

Wolves and American startup FlipFam begin cooperation.

VfL Wolfsburg is expanding its offering to younger target audiences as it begins a partnership with American company FlipFam. The startup, with cofounders from San Francisco and Germany, has established itself in the fan engagement sector with its smartphone app of the same name. The tool follows the so-called “play-to-earn” approach, where digital value can be generated during free gaming fun. Via the FlipFam app, users can win points and earn "digital collectibles" in the form of non-fungible tokens (NFTs), which can be used to win prizes like VIP tickets.

Win prizes with VfL knowledge

What makes the partnership with FlipFam particularly exciting is that VfL fans can show off their broad knowledge of the Green-and-Whites, by correctly predicting the results of both the men’s and women’s team as well as VfL’s Virtual Bundesliga team. You can play for fun or opt in to competitions with other fans. Attractive prizes are also up for grabs, such as tickets, signed merchandise or meet and greets with the real-life pros. “The idea that fans can compete against each other with their VfL knowledge and even win prizes with this interesting gamification approach convinced us right from the start," says Linus Lebugle, head of business development at VfL Wolfsburg. “We’re very pleased that we’ve managed to realise this partnership as part of our startup programme.”
