The destination of the FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga trophy won’t be decided on the third-last matchday of the campaign, but the weekend’s action may offer a clearer picture of the title race. VfL Wolfsburg Women take on Eintracht Frankfurt at Deutsche Bank Park on Sunday 14 May (13:00 CEST), while league leaders Bayern Munich host TSG 1899 Hoffenheim on Friday.
If both teams win their respective games, the Munich outfit will be in pole position to beat the She-Wolves to the finishing line. At the press conference before Sunday’s trip to Frankfurt, VfL head coach Tommy Stroot answered questions on…
…personnel: “Lena Lattwein (injured) und Kristin Demann (cold) are both out.”
…the task in Frankfurt: “It’s a big game in the Women’s Bundesliga and we’d do well to treat it as such in every respect, from our approach to technical and tactical areas. Frankfurt will have big ambitions in their own stadium. They’re fighting to qualify for the Champions League. We like these types of games and we like big stadiums, so there’s no need to offer anyone any additional motivation. We’ll have to do a lot right to win the game, but we also know we have the quality to do just that.”
…Eintracht’s approach: “Friday evening’s game plays an important role there, too. If Hoffenheim win in Munich, Eintracht will be under a certain degree of pressure. Everything has an effect, and we’ve incorporated that into our immediate preparations for the game. Under certain circumstances, a point might even be enough. We’ll prepare very thoroughly for every eventuality.”
