The VfL Women will have Stephan Lerch at the helm through the 2020/2021 season after the 35-year-old extended his contract by another 12 months. Lerch took over the head coach position from Ralf Kellermann in 2017, guiding the She-Wolves to consecutive German league and cup doubles. Prior to that, the man from Darmstadt served as assistant under Kellermann (2015-2017) and coach of the women’s reserve team (2013-2015).

"Working with our team is great fun and I’m really fired up to carry on going down the path that we’ve set out with the training staff beyond this season," said Lerch. "It’s an exciting challenge to be able to compete for the title in three different competitions with such a top-class squad and great personalities from a whole host of countries. Many of them have already picked up plenty of silverware in their careers but our players are all still keen to learn and hungry for success, and that is the ideal basis to be able to achieve the goals we set ourselves in the future."
