VfL Women consolidated top spot in the table with a 4-1 win at Bayer Leverkusen.

Tommy Stroot’s side produced a dominant performance throughout the 90 minutes against Bayer Leverkusen on Matchday 14 of the FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga. Goals from Ewa Pajor, Alexandra Popp, Jule Brand and Tabea Waßmuth secured three richly deserved points in front of 1,476 fans at the Ulrich-Haberland-Stadion, with Lilla Turanyi pulling a goal back for the host shortly before the end.

Goals

  • 0-1 Pajor (13’): Svenja Huth darts forward down the right and lays the ball off to Lena Lattwein, who delivers a pinpoint cross into the middle. Popp leaps highest and nods it on for Pajor to open the scoring.
  • 0-2 Popp (16’): Huth’s inch-perfect cross finds Popp, whose superb header makes it 2-0.
  • 0-3 Brand (65’): Brand, who only entered the pitch moments earlier, finishes from close range to land the knockout blow for the She-Wolves.
  • 0-4 Waßmuth (78’): Pajor heads the ball back from the byline to Waßmuth, who coolly finds the far corner.
  • 1-4 Turanyi (90’+2): Turanyi is in the right place at the right time to net a consolation for Leverkusen from a corner.

Jule Brand: “It’s always nice to help the team by scoring a goal. Overall we had a good game but we could have been more clinical towards the end. Leverkusen made things very tight but we found some good solutions and deserved to win.”
