Cologne-bound

VfL have loaned Elvis Rexhbecaj to 1. FC Köln.

VfL Wolfsburg have agreed to loan Elvis Rexhbecaj to Bundesliga rivals 1. FC Köln until the summer of 2021. The midfielder left the Wolves’ training camp in the Portuguese town of Almancil on Sunday morning to travel to Benidorm in Spain, where Köln are currently preparing for the second half of the campaign.

Rexhbecaj joined VfL’s youth set-up from Brandenburger SC Süd 05 in 2010 before graduating to the first team via the Under-23s. He made his Bundesliga debut on 28 January 2018, coming on as an 84th-minute substitute in a 1-0 victory over Hannover 96.

The 22-year-old has made 28 league appearances for the Wolves to date, scoring twice. Rexhbecaj has also played once in the UEFA Europa League and three times in the DFB Cup.
