Christmas come early

Maximilian Arnold, Patrick Wimmer and Jule Brand deliver presents to children at refugee shelter.

On Tuesday afternoon, three VfL players made their way to Vorsfelde to bring some pre-Christmas joy to needy children. The background to this was the green and white Christmas tree campaign, which had a special motto this year. In cooperation with various refugee shelters in Wolfsburg, VfL Wolfsburg had posted wish lists exclusively from children who had fled their homes on the five publicly accessible fir trees. Maximilian Arnold, Patrick Wimmer and Jule Brand visited the refugee accommodation at the Drömlingstadion to personally hand over the presents and, of course, to sign copious autographs.

Dozens of parcels distributed

“Every child likes getting presents, but this here is even more special. It’s hard to imagine the huge challenges these children have had to and still have to overcome with their families, so it’s nice to put a smile on their faces,” said VfL captain Arnold, who together with Wimmer and Brand handed out lots of colourful parcels, which were filled by players as well as staff and fans and collected at the VfL offices. “We’re really happy about this, for the children in particular. It’s really great that the players came in person, which is also special for my colleague and me,” said social worker Uwe Schmechel from the Vorsfelde refugee shelter.
