Capital gains

The Wolves beat second-tier Union Berlin 3-0 in the capital.

Felix Uduokhai is back in action.

VfL Wolfsburg beat Bundesliga 2 outfit Union Berlin 3-0 in Thursday evening’s friendly match at the Stadion an der Alten Försterei. 1,040 fans turned out to see goals from William (73‘), Victor Osimhen (80‘) and Blaz Kramer (90‘) secure a comfortable victory ahead of Saturday’s return to Berlin for the Bundesliga clash with Hertha BSC.

'Cama' and 'Udo' return

With seven players away on international duty head coach Bruno Labbadia reintroduced captain Ignacio Camacho to the fold. The Spaniard had missed almost five months with an ankle injury but made his return along with Felix Uduokhai. The latter, who was an unused substitute against FC Schalke 04 last weekend, started in central defence following a knee injury that had kept him out since January.

William takes aim

After a goalless but not soulless first half the two teams served up an entertaining second 45 with the deadlock eventually broken by William’s 73rd-minute free-kick. Union responded with pressure, but Osimhen virtually settled things with ten minutes remaining and the win was capped off by Kramer on the counter just before the final whistle.
