Kevin Behrens’ transfer to VfL Wolfsburg was completed on Wednesday evening; on Thursday the forward had his first training session with his new team. In this interview, Behrens discusses his first impressions of training with VfL, his new colleagues and his upcoming first game as a Wolf on Sunday.

Hi Kevin, you’ve now had your first training session with your new teammates. How was it?

Kevin Behrens: “It was fantastic, I have to say. I picked up a little injury from my last game and had to rest for three days, so it feels a bit like I went from nought to 100 straight away. It was pretty intensive and a lot of fun.”

How were you welcomed by the team?

Kevin: “Really well. Some players offered to help me right away in case I need anything. It was all really positive.”

It’s a completely new experience that I want to have here

Let’s talk about your reasons for joining the Wolves. What was the decisive factor?

Kevin: “It’s a new challenge for me in the Bundesliga with VfL. Everything here is a little bit more professional. It’s a completely new experience that I want to have here.”

On Sunday, the Wolves take on TSG Hoffenheim at the Volkswagen Arena. How much are you looking forward to your first game in green and white?

Kevin: “I can’t wait. Everything’s new for me but I’m very, very excited and am really looking forward to playing in the stadium. It’ll be a difficult game but we’ve got high ambitions and want to have a positive second half of the season, so we’ll attack and play to win, even if it’s going to be hard fought.”
