Camp off to good start

Ideal conditions for VfL Women at Sporthotel Klosterpforte.

No fewer than 23 players stepped off the green-and-white team bus last Saturday at Harsewinkel, not far from the Dutch border, to kick off their one-week training camp. The only two squad members not present at the Sporthotel Klosterpforte are Merle Frohms, who had tested positive for COVID-19, and Julia Kassen who is taking part in the U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica.

Intensive sessions

Early reports from the camp are highly positive. The first training session for the She-Wolves came shortly after they had arrived, with the German internationals in the squad given a separate programme to follow. The Women’s EURO finalists first had to go through various performance tests and examinations, but after starting things off with a few relaxed ball-related exercises, they were soon integrated back into the game scenarios with the rest of the squad.

Thursday sees the first friendly for the team, while on Friday 19 August the Green-and-Whites will get to take on top Dutch club PSV Eindhoven (kick-off at 16:00 CEST / live on Wölfe TV).
