The Wolves are brimming with confidence after opening their league campaign with three wins out of three, and as such, they will travel to Fürth on Saturday 11 September firmly in the role of favourites. Their newly-promoted opponents just have the one point to show from their opening three matches. VfL meanwhile are once again building from the back, having kept two clean sheets already this season.

The Wolves top the table after three wins in a row and have the best defence in the league, with just the one goal conceded.
Mark van Bommel is only the second VfL head coach, after Wolfgang Wolf in early 1998, to win his first three Bundesliga matches. A fourth victory would give the Dutchman the record outright.
Goalkeeper Koen Casteels is also in top form, saving 87.5 per cent of shots on target that he has faced so far – the best record in the league. The VfL captain is currently on 199 Bundesliga appearances for the club and looking to crack the 200 mark against Fürth.
SpVgg – who were promoted from Bundesliga 2 last season – have already shipped nine goals, with only Hertha Berlin (10) having a poorer defensive record. The Fürth defence have won just 45 per cent of their duels and already picked up seven yellow cards, with former Wolfsburg player Paul Seguin getting three of those.
Fürth and Wolfsburg last met in the 2012/13 season. SpVgg managed a 1-1 draw at the Volkswagen Arena in the first half of the season, while Wolfsburg picked up a 1-0 win away from home after the winter break.
There will be no fewer than five players across the two squads on Saturday – Seguin, Luca Itter, Anton Stach, Paul Jaeckel and Marvin Stefaniak – who have represented both VfL and Fürth.
