After suffering an ACL tear in her right knee in September, VfL striker Rebecka Blomqvist took an important step this week as she underwent successful surgery. The 26-year-old can now look forward to beginning her rehabilitation as soon as possible, although there’s still a long road ahead before she’ll be able to return to the pitch. For now, Blomqvist is promising her teammates at VfL Wolfsburg and in the Swedish national team one thing: “I’ll support you as much as I can from the sidelines!”
The striker’s treatment is happening in consultation with a specialist from Berlin. The operation has only taken place now because the medial collateral ligament was also affected by the injury.
