Women

Back in league action

VfL Wolfsburg Women are aiming for another three points at SGS Essen.

Over a month has passed since VfL Women cruised to a 6-0 victory over FC Bayern Munich in their top-of-the-table FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga clash. The She-Wolves play their first league match since that memorable victory on Wednesday 4 May (kick-off 19:15 CEST), when they travel to SGS Essen. Ahead of the game, head coach Tommy Stroot spoke about…

…personnel: “We have the same girls available as before the Barcelona game. There’s a question mark over Lena Oberdorf, but as things stand I don’t expect her to be fit.”

…VfL’s title chances: “Our fate is in our own hands, which is a nice situation to be in. Our focus is on showing our qualities on the pitch. We know what we have to do.”

…SGS Essen: “They’re definitely a dynamic team with a fair amount of pace up front, which means we’ll have to be alert to transitions. We’ve had no room to come off the gas in recent weeks and we want to keep our foot on the pedal in Essen.”
