Another new arrival

Tabea Waßmuth will also join VfL Women from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim this summer.

VfL Wolfsburg Women have completed another new signing for the 2021/22 season. Four days after confirming Lena Lattwein’s arrival from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, the double-winners have acquired the services of Lattwein’s team-mate Tabea Waßmuth on a contract until 30 June 2024. The 24-year-old attacking midfielder, who will join VfL on a free transfer, is the She-Wolves’ third signing for the new campaign, after Lattwein and Dutch forward Joelle Smits.

Two international caps, two goals

Waßmuth, who has been on Hoffenheim’s books since 2008, made her FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga debut in 2015. She was handed her international bow for Germany last year, making her debut against Montenegro before scoring her first two international goals away to the Republic of Ireland.

“Impressive development”

“I’m really happy to play for VfL Wolfsburg from next season and it fills me with pride that I’ll be wearing the shirt of one of the best clubs in Europe,” said Waßmuth. “I’m already very excited about the new challenge and will do everything to help VfL achieve its objectives. First of all, though, I’ll do all I can to end the current season on a high with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.”

Ralf Kellermann, VfL Women’s sporting director, added: “Tabea has undergone an impressive development – particularly over the last two years – and is currently among the quickest attacking players in the whole division. We’re looking forward to working with her.”
