Another departure

Denmark international Sofie Svava has joined Real Madrid.

Another VfL Wolfsburg player has joined Sara Doorsoun in leaving the club during the current transfer window. The six-time German champions have granted Sofie Svava’s request to terminate her contract, which was valid until 2024. The Denmark international, who joined the She-Wolves from FC Rosengard last winter, is moving to Real Madrid. The 21-year-old’s deal with the 2020/21 Spanish top-flight runners-up and current UWCL quarter-finalists also runs until 2024. Svava made 14 FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga appearances for the Green-and-Whites, as well as eight outings in the UEFA Women’s Champions League and three in the DFB Cup.

“Particularly in light of the current economic circumstances, we’ve decided not to stand in the way of the transfer request and to terminate Sofie’s contract,” said VfL Women sporting director Ralf Kellermann. “We thank Sofie for her commitment and wish her all the best for the future, both in sporting terms and in her private life.”
