StrongHER Camp in Mexico

In Mexico, the StrongHER program has also been launched with the goal of supporting girls and young women in Puebla through football training and mentoring, while strengthening their social skills. The experiences gained in Chattanooga also served as the inspiration to launch the StrongHER project in Mexico, specifically at the Volkswagen site in Puebla, in collaboration with Volkswagen and a local project partner, Juconi.

Since April 2024, young girls from socially disadvantaged communities have been part of the pilot project in Puebla. They are being supported based on the Chattanooga model, adapted to local conditions and circumstances.

Our strong partners

Terre des hommes

An important part of the project is the social responsibility that VfL Wolfsburg carries as a Bundesliga club. Terre des Hommes, together with Wolfsburg United and its partners, supports projects for disadvantaged children. They are involved in initiatives for children in Brazil and Mexico. In Brazil, sports, learning, and educational opportunities are created for girls and boys living in impoverished neighborhoods. The aim is to help them develop their potential and strengthen their skills. In the Mexican city of Puebla, the partner organization Juconi cares for neglected and working children, as well as former street children.

Volkswagen de Mexico S.A.

The Volkswagen plant in Puebla is the largest automotive factory in Mexico and, with an area of 300 hectares, also one of the largest production sites within the Volkswagen Group. All essential production processes take place here, including body panel stamping and component manufacturing. In 2024, a total of 382,312 vehicles were produced in Puebla. The Jetta, long-wheelbase Tiguan, and Taos models are manufactured at the Puebla plant.
