Winning run extended

VfL Women beat SV Meppen 4-0 – their 10th straight win in all competitions.

At the end of a busy week – and the beginning of an action-packed month – VfL Wolfsburg lived up to their role as favourites at SV Meppen, winning 4-0 to consolidate second place in the FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga.

Rebecka Blomqvist, Alexandra Popp, Dominique Janssen and Ewa Pajor – who was making her Bundesliga comeback – got the goals for the She-Wolves on their first ever visit to the promoted side. The Green-and-Whites are back in European action on Wednesday 10 March (kick-off 14:00 CET, live on WölfeTV), when they face LSK Kvinner in the return leg of their UEFA Women’s Champions League last-16 tie. The game is taking place in Györ, Hungary.

“We created a lot of pressure”

VfL head coach Stephan Lerch: “We played a good game, from the first minute to the last. The players managed to put into practice what they set out to do. We were very aggressive and tough in the challenges. That enabled us to create a lot of pressure. I’m very happy with the team’s performance.”
