On Sunday afternoon, the VfL ladies earned an extremely important 1-0 (0-0) win away to Turbine Potsdam. In a hard-fought battle, Caroline Hansen netted the golden-goal on the day, with a powerful 20-meter drive into the bottom corner in the 65th minute. During the first-half of the game, Lerch’s eleven struggled, but the Lady-Wolves distinctly raised their game in the second period to claim all three points, thus inflicting Potsdam’s first defeat of the season. The important victory sees the Lady-Wolves reclaim their place at the top of the Allianz Frauen-Bundesliga table.
VfL head-coach Stephan Lerch: We are delighted about taking all three points here today. We knew this would be a tight game and the first-half was particularly intensive. Potsdam put us under a lot of pressure and switched the play very quickly upon winning possession. During the break we discussed coming from deeper and getting more tempo into our play. We did that well in the second-half and we can now go home very happy.
