Victory in Bremen

The VfL Ladies were 3-0 winners at SV Werder Bremen on Sunday.

The She-Wolves continued their flying start to the season as they picked up another three points at Werder Bremen on Matchday 4 of the Allianz Women’s Bundesliga. Two weeks after their 6-0 drubbing of FC Bayern Munich, the Green-Whites recorded a 3-0 success away from home thanks to first-half goals from Zsanett Jakabfi and Kristine Minde, who added a third shortly before the end. The result means Stephan Lerch’s side remain top of the table with maximum points and are still yet to concede a goal in any competition this season. Their attention now turns to the UEFA Women’s Champions League ahead of their round of 16 first leg against Atlético Madrid on Wednesday 17 October at the AOK Stadion (kick-off 19:00 CEST).

“Deserved more goals”

VfL head coach Stephan Lerch: “I’m pleased with the result. We scored three goals and kept another clean sheet. It’s a bit annoying we didn’t score one or two more. I think it would’ve been deserved if we’d scored more but Bremen didn’t make it easy for us with their disruptive style of play. Despite that, we managed to create plenty of chances. At the end of the day we wanted to take three points back home with us, so we’re happy.”
