VfL have completed another piece of transfer business shortly after the Christmas holidays, with Icelandic talent Sveindis Jane Jonsdottir signing a contract through to 30 June 2024 with the six-time German champions. The 19-year-old will only move to Wolfsburg in a year, however, as she will spend 2021 on loan at Swedish club Kristianstads DFF, who qualified for the Champions League last season after finishing third.
The attacker has been playing for Keflavik IF in Iceland since 2015 and joined Breidablik on loan at the start of this year. It was a successful spell as she won the Icelandic title, finished as top goalscorer with 14 goals and was named Player of the Season. Jonsdottir has five senior caps for her country to date.

“Sveindis is a talented player who possesses all the skills to establish herself in the big European leagues in the medium term,” said Ralf Kellermann, VfL Women sporting director. “That didn’t escape the attention of other clubs, who also expressed interest in a move. That makes us even happier that Sveindis has chosen us. By loaning her out to a top Swedish club to begin with, we’re enabling her to further her development and gain experience at a high level,” he added.
