VfL Wolfsburg Women host Bayer 04 Leverkusen in their first fixture of the Google Pixel Women’s Bundesliga season on Sunday 17 September (kick-off 16:00 CEST). At his pre-match media briefing, head coach Tommy Stroot discussed…
…personnel: “Rebecka Blomqvist, Camilla Küver and Tabea Sellner will miss out. Sara Agrez is doubtful.”
…the first home game: “It’s incredibly important for us to start at home. Ahead of our friendly against PSV Eindhoven the players were given a brilliant welcome from the fans. That experience did us good and that’s why I’m really looking forward to our first home game.”
…the opposition: “Leverkusen have had a long pre-season and have played lots of friendlies. That will certainly have given them a lot of stability in their game. That’s why it’s important for us to prepare well for this match. As ever, we’ll try to dominate and win the ball back as quickly as we can.”
…season objectives: “We know that we have the quality to compete for trophies. We want to be German champions, although we’re well aware that in order for that to happen there are lots of challenges and hard work ahead. But the aim of going for it in all three competitions is a huge motivating factor for us.”
