She-Wolves out to “break Leipzig down”

VfL Women head to Leipzig this weekend and are likely to be without head coach Tommy Stroot.

VfL Wolfsburg Women face RB Leipzig away on Saturday and are keen for more points in the Google Pixel Women’s Bundesliga after their impressive 6-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in their last league outing.

At the pre-match press conference, assistant coach Sabrina Eckhoff stood in for Tommy Stroot, who is currently ill, and spoke about...

…head coach Tommy Stroot: “Tommy is sick at the moment and as things stand, he probably won’t be back in time for the game against Leipzig. He’s on the mend though and we hope he’ll be back with us next week.”

…personnel news: “All of our internationals returned to us safe and sound. Camilla Küver and Kathy Hendrich will be sidelined for the Leipzig game through injury. We’ve had a couple of other people report in sick this week. We’re not sure yet whether Sarai Linder and Merle Frohms will be able to make the squad. Kristin Demann was also sick but she’s working her way back now.”

…the opposition: “RB Leipzig have developed well every year and they’re now an established top-flight side who regularly cause problems for bigger teams. We know what their strengths are and that they play some good football. They have a clear game plan. We know what to expect but it’s up to us to break them down.”

…the first game at Cottaweg: “Generally speaking, every away game is different because we play on different pitches. We haven’t played there yet but that’s a situation we’re familiar with. It’s an away game that we’re approaching in the same way we always do. It’s a game with three points at stake. We know what our qualities are and we want to bring them to bear out on the pitch.”
