She-Wolves ease through

VfL Women beat LSK Kvinner 2-0 in UWCL last 16 second leg.

VfL Wolfsburg Women have reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League for the ninth time. After the two-time European champions beat Norwegian side LSK Kvinner 2-0 in the first leg, they won by the same scoreline in the return fixture in the Hungarian town of Györ, with Pia-Sophie Wolter and Ingrid Engen getting the goals.

The draw for the quarter-finals and semi-finals will be made this coming Friday at 12:00 CET in Nyon. Two days later, the Green-and-Whites are back in FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga action when they welcome Bayer 04 Leverkusen to the AOK Stadion on Sunday 14 March (kick-off 14:00 CET).

“Quickfire goals were great”

VfL head coach Stephan Lerch: “Lilleström tried a few things today. They were opposed to the pitch being watered before kick-off, which was of course their right as the home team. We didn’t have enough control in the opening stages. The two quickfire goals just before half-time were obviously great. They gave us some composure and enabled us to conserve some energy. We’ve beaten a physically strong team 2-0 twice now and are into the next round. That’s the only thing that matters and we’re all very happy.”
