Sara Agrez leaves VfL Wolfsburg

The 23-year-old defender has agreed a move to Köln.

The She-Wolves will begin winter training without Sara Agrez, who has joined 1. FC Köln with immediate effect. The VfL management agreed to the 23-year-old defender’s request to terminate her contract, which was due to run until June 2025. Slovenia international Agrez moved to Wolfsburg from 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam in summer 2022 and made nine Google Pixel Women’s Bundesliga appearances in the green and white shirt as well as one in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

“I’ve experienced a lot of nice moments with the girls at VfL, celebrated successes and always had fun,” said Agrez, explaining her decision. “It’s not been an easy time for me personally, though, which is why I now want to embark on a new path and get more playing time.”

Ralf Kellermann, director of women’s football at VfL Wolfsburg, said: “Sara came to us with the wish to move to 1. FC Köln in order to be given more playing time. We granted that because we managed to find a good solution for all parties. We thank Sara for her efforts in the VfL shirt, and wish her all the best in her sporting and personal future.”
