Saevik contract cancelled

Norwegian international leaving VfL Women to join Norwegian side Avaldsnes IL.

The contract between VfL Wolfsburg and Norwegian forward Karina Saevik, which was due to run until 30 June 2022, has been cancelled by mutual consent. VfL management have agreed to accommodate the wishes of the 25-year-old, who has received an offer from Norwegian top-flight club Avaldsnes IL, with their season beginning next weekend.
Saevik joined the She-Wolves from Paris Saint-Germain last September and went on to make 14 FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga appearances for the Green-and-Whites, plus another four in the UEFA Women’s Champions League and two in the DFB Cup.

“Respect her reasons”

“We would have liked Karina to continue to be part of our team,” said Ralf Kellermann, Sporting director for VfL Women, “but at the same time, we respect her personal reasons behind wanting to cancel the contract. It goes without saying therefore that we didn’t want to stand in the way of her move to Avaldsnes IL once we were in agreement about the transfer. We’d like to thank Karina for her time in a VfL jersey and wish her all the best for the future!”
