After drawing their Champions League opener on Tuesday, the Wolves have switched their attention to Sunday’s home game against Eintracht Frankfurt at the Volkswagen Arena (kick-off 19:30 CEST). At Friday’s press conference ahead of the clash with former VfL boss Oliver Glasner’s side, Mark van Bommel answered the media’s queries on…
…the aftermath of the Lille game: “The players dealt with the journey very well. We flew back right after the game, then trained in the afternoon, took yesterday off, trained again today and have another session tomorrow. The lads are able to cope with that sort of thing from a physical point of view. That’s why I’m not worried at all, not even about potential mental repercussions.”
…personnel: “Everyone’s fit apart from Paulo Otavio, Bartosz Bialek, William and Xaver Schlager. Paulo will definitely be back sooner than the others.”
…VfL’s dream start in the league: “Of course I’m happy that we’ve won four games, that’s obvious. If we’re breaking records in the process, so much the better. That’s not really the deciding factor for me, though.”
…opponents Eintracht Frankfurt: “Just because they don’t have enough points doesn’t mean Frankfurt got off to a bad start. They play good football in my eyes, which we saw yesterday in the Europa League. Not many teams have Frankfurt’s qualities. The only thing missing so far are the results. People are quick to say that they haven’t had a good start to the season, but I don’t see it that way.”
