“Not for fashion fans”

VfL and Nike to unveil the new Wolves home and away jerseys for the 2020/2021 season before they go on sale on 27 July.

The current season is coming to an end, and just ahead of the final league match, Wolves fans are going to get to find out which jerseys their heroes will be sporting in the 2020/2021 season. Ninety minutes before kick-off against champions Bayern Munich on Saturday, the Green-and-Whites together with equipment supplier Nike will be presenting the new light-green home jersey and black away kit via a Wolves-TV live stream from the Autostadt visitor attraction. Fans will already be able to order them from the Wolves’ online shop before they go on sale on 27 July. The new home jersey will get its first official airing when the players take on the record Bundesliga winners on Saturday, while VfL Women, who have successfully defended a league title of their own, will also be wearing the new light-green kit on Sunday when they play their final league match of the season against Bayer 04 Leverkusen at the AOK Stadion. Then on 4 July in Cologne, they will debut the black away jersey when they take on SGS Essen in the DFB Cup final.

Style and strength

The new jerseys were jointly designed by VfL and Nike, and give fans a familiar style that also treads a bold new path. They are certainly designed to appeal to the genuine supporter and are “Not for fashion fans”, as the Wolves’ accompanying advertising campaign makes very clear. VfL Wolfsburg can be proud of the fact that nobody follows the Wolves purely because it is “the in thing”. Wolves’ fans are often met with prejudice, and if you support Wolfsburg, it is because you stand by the club and you remain true to VfL, regardless of what others might say.

The new home jersey catches the eye with a lighter shade of green than in previous years but is built around the famous X that is now a little wider and more dynamic, designed to drive and inspire the coming generation of Wolves players. Away from home, the Wolves will be a match for any opponent in their strong, imposing black kit. The blend of style and strength is a perfect fit for VfL Wolfsburg, with the club’s more familiar green and white featured on the arms, the collar and the club logos, providing a stylish contrast to the darker overall colour. Both jerseys also proudly bear the City of Wolfsburg coat of arms to pay homage to the club’s roots, as will also be the case with the third jersey, which will be in the same shade of blue as for the 2019/2020 season.

Recyclable, sustainable, comfortable

The jerseys will again be made of the same high-quality Nike material that the fans have come to expect. The tried and trusted Dri-Fit technology will provide comfort and dryness, flocking sweat away from the body to the outside of the jerseys and shorts where it can dry more quickly. The laser-cut ventilation holes and mesh sections on critical areas of the jerseys will improve air circulation and thus improve performance whilst helping to regulate body temperature. The jersey has been made from a specially designed material that merges into a mesh below the chest to improve breathability and ease of movement. The breathable material ensures excellent ventilation, while the ergonomic stitching provides freedom of movement. The use of recycled polyester sees Nike focusing firmly on sustainable innovation in the production of the jerseys, combining unparalleled performance with a minimal impact on the environment.
