Neto signs contract extension

Claudia Neto has committed her future to the Green-Whites until 2020.

Midfielder Claudio Neto will be staying with the VfL Ladies beyond the end of the current season after signing a one-year contract extension. The Portugal international, whose contract was due to expire at the end of this campaign, has penned a new deal until 30 June 2020. “When she arrived last year, we had high expectations of Claudia, especially because of her international experience,” said Ralf Kellermann, sporting director of the VfL Ladies. “She’s exceeded these expectations, why is why we were keen to extend her contract and are delighted it’s worked out.”

Over 100 international caps

Neto joined the She-Wolves from three-time Swedish champions Linköpings FC together with Kristine Minde on 1 December 2017. The 30-year-old, who has over 100 caps for Portugal, won the double in her first season with the Green-Whites as well as reaching the final of the UEFA Women’s Champions League. With the exception of last Saturday’s home match against Bayer Leverkusen, she has featured in all ten of the VfL Ladies’ Bundesliga and Champions League games this term.

“Want to win more trophies”

“I’m very happy to have extended my stay at Wolfsburg,” said Neto. “It’s an honour for me to able to work together with this fantastic team. I can’t think of a better place for me to continue my development as a footballer, and of course I want to win more titles with the team. I’ll give my best to contribute to that.”
