VfL Wolfsburg mourns the passing of former Wolves defender Maximilian Heidenreich, who has died aged 57 after a serious illness. Heidenreich joined the club from SC Freiburg after the Green-and-Whites’ promotion to the Bundesliga in 1997, appearing in ten league games and a DFB Cup tie for Willi Reimann’s side that season before moving to SG Wattenscheid in 1998/99. Everyone at the club sends their condolences to Heidenreich’s family and friends.
