Goalkeeper Phillip Menzel is leaving VfL Wolfsburg to join SK Austria Klagenfurt ahead of the new season, which could be in the top flight with the club currently battling for promotion to the Austrian Bundesliga.
The 21-year-old joined the Green-and-Whites in 2014 from Holstein Kiel and progressed through the U17 and U19 sides, winning the North/Northeast division of the Under 19 Bundesliga in 2017 before moving up to the U23s.
The goalie made a total of 50 appearances in the Regionalliga Nord, was between the sticks for both of the promotion play-off matches in the 2018/2019 season and also featured in the Wolves’ Bundesliga squads.
