A further milestone in the future development of VfL Wolfsburg has been reached, with the long-term extension of the Wolves’ partnership with Nike, which has been in place since 2016. This will see the global market leader in sportswear and one of the most innovative football clubs work together even more closely in the future in order to be able to provide joint initiatives for the social development of football.

Became German champions in Nike kit

“We’re pleased about the extension of this very successful partnership, which is characterised by great innovative strength, top-quality products and great mutual trust,” said Steffen Grupp, the Green-and-Whites’ marketing director. “We want to continue on the path on which we’ve already set out and equip our male and female players at the highest level.” Nike previously supplied VfL from 2004 to 2009. The greatest success in the club’s history – the men’s Bundesliga title in 2009 – remains inextricably linked with the Nike jersey from that time, along with five league titles and seven cup successes for VfL Women.

“A business card for the club”

“Kit suppliers have one of the central roles within the club world as the shirts of our teams, which shape our image not only on the pitch but also in the stands and in the media, and are like a business card for the club,” added VfL managing director Michael Meeske. “But of course there is more to it than that, because it is the shared understanding of the future of football, in particular, that fills this partnership with life. In this respect, having a partner like Nike at our side is very good news for VfL Wolfsburg. With this in mind, we look forward to deepening this strong partnership even further in the coming years with many exciting measures.”
