Three weeks ago, Dzenan Pejcinovic penned an early extension to his contract with the Green-and-Whites, and now the 19-year-old striking sensation is off on a season-long loan to Fortuna Düsseldorf, to get game time in Bundesliga 2.
“We’ve already made it clear on a number of occasions that Dzenan Pejcinovic is an exceptionally talented player who has plenty left in his development curve,” said VfL sporting director Sebastian Schindzielorz. “Discussions with all parties made it clear that it is incredibly important for Dzenan to get regular playing time at a high level, and as such, we are delighted that we were able to come to an agreement with Düsseldorf. We will be keeping a very close eye on his progress at Fortuna.”
Hungry for goals
Germany U19 international Pejcinovic has made five Bundesliga appearances already for VfL, and scored 28 goals in 18 matches last season in the Bundesliga North/Northeast at U19 level. Before coming to Wolfsburg, the teenager played in the FC Bayern Munich and FC Augsburg youth systems.
