Lena Lattwein signs for next season

Germany international leaving Hoffenheim to join VfL Women.

Defending German champions VfL Wolfsburg have strengthened their squad for next season with the addition of Lena Lattwein from Women’s Bundesliga rivals TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. The Green-and-Whites will not have to pay a transfer fee for the 20-year-old midfielder, who has signed a contract through to 30 June 2024.

Lattwein made her debut in Women’s Bundesliga 2 as a 16-year-old for 1. FC Saarbrücken. She joined TSG 1899 Hoffenheim in 2017 and made her bow in the FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga as soon as the season got under way. She has gone on to make 62 appearances in Germany’s top flight plus another 10 in the DFB Cup. In November 2018, she made her international debut for Germany and has won a total of nine caps to date.

“Established Bundesliga player”

“It’s obviously an honour that VfL Wolfsburg have made a move for me,” said Lattwein. “Wolfsburg are one of the very best clubs in Europe with a lot of high-quality individual players. TSG 1899 Hoffenheim gave me the chance to take my first steps in the Women’s Bundesliga, and I grew up there a lot both as a person and a player. Now I’m delighted to be taking on a new challenge next summer.”

“Despite her young age, Lena is an experienced and established Bundesliga player who has already shown her great potential in the German national team.” said Ralf Kellermann, sporting director of VfL Women. “I’m very confident that she will prove to be a significant addition to our squad right from day one.”
