“I’m enjoying football again”

Riola Xhemaili on her first few months at Wolfsburg and preparations for the upcoming clash with MSV Duisburg.

Twenty-year-old midfielder Riola Xhemaili, who joined VfL Wolfsburg from SC Freiburg in the summer, shares her thoughts on the atmosphere in the She-Wolves camp, why she feels at home in Wolfsburg and the upcoming game against MSV Duisburg.

Riola Xhemaili, what’s the atmosphere like in the squad at the moment?

Riola Xhemaili: “It’s very good. I think it’s partly because we’ve got more time to train at the moment. I’m enjoying getting into a routine and knowing what individual players need.”

You were given a few minutes against your former club Freiburg last weekend? What was that like for you?

Riola: “Because I still have a lot of friends there, it really was a special game for me. I was really looking forward to it. I think we can be very pleased with the 4-0 win.”

You’ve been here since the summer. How have you settled in at Wolfsburg?

Riola: “It’s been good. I’m happy in the team and with the staff. I feel I can keep improving every day. I’ve made friends with people around me and within the team. We do a lot away from football too, so it’s fun to be here. I’m enjoying football again here at VfL.”

You’re playing against Duisburg on Saturday. What kind of game are you expecting?

Riola: “I saw Duisburg’s game against Bayern – they defended well. It’s important that we stay patient and keep the ball flowing like we did against Freiburg, then we’ll get our chances.”
