High-scoring friendly

The Wolves drew 3-3 with Hannover 96 on Wednesday.

VfL drew 3-3 with Bundesliga 2 side Hannover 96 in a friendly on the training pitch in front of the Volkswagen Arena on Wednesday. Daniel Ginczek (26’, 32’) and Lukas Nmecha (85’) were on target for the Green-and-Whites, with Sebastian Ernst (13’) and Sebastian Kerk (57’, 68’ pen) getting the goals for Hannover.

Debuts for Vranckx and Waldschmidt

Mark van Bommel’s side were without seven international stars against Jan Zimmermann’s team, while several others were rested on the back of a busy start to the season. This gave three Wolves players the opportunity to make their debuts: Aster Vranckx and Luca Waldschmidt both started the match, while Felix Nmecha came on as a substitute.

“Good opponents”

Mark van Bommel: “It’s good that we played against good opponents for 90 minutes. We want everyone to be at a certain level physically, after all. Now the lads have earned a few days off before we prepare for Fürth and the Champions League next week. It was a good game, and if a penalty had been awarded in the last minute we could have won the match.”
