Despite an improved display in the second half, VfL Wolfsburg Women lost 2-1 at FC Bayern Munich in Sunday’s top-of-the-table encounter. In front of approximately 4,300 fans at the FC Bayern Campus, the She-Wolves struggled in the first 45 minutes as the home side took control of proceedings. Tommy Stroot’s side played with much more conviction in the second half and pulled a goal back through Lena Oberdorf in the 63rd minute, but the visitors were unable to salvage a draw.
Goals
- 1-0 Dallmann (29’): The She-Wolves lose possession and Georgia Stanway releases Klara Bühl down the left-hand side. Bühl’s cross into the middle finds Linda Dallmann, who prods home from close range.
- 2-0 Bühl (37’): Dallmann turns provider for Bühl, whose first-time strike into the bottom left corner leaves Lisa Schmitz with no chance.
- 2-1 Oberdorf (63’): After creating little thus far, Wolfsburg manage to carve out an opening through Oberdorf, who is given space and time to set up a shot. She lets fly from around 23 metres and finds the right-hand corner to reduce the arrears.
