Nilla Fischer and Pernille Harder from VfL's women's Bundesliga side have been named in the world selection for last year, at the international player's union FIFPro (Federation Internationale des Associations de Footballeurs Professionnels) event, which is organised annually and was selected for the third time. 4,100 top-flight players from 45 nations had the opportunity to cast their votes for one goalkeeper, four defenders, three midfielders and three attackers. Whilst VfL captain Nilla Fischer made the Womens᾽s World XI for the second time, Harder, who has scored 13 goals so far this season in the Allianz Frauen-Bundesliga, made her debut in the world eleven.
Amongst the five goalkeepers, 20 defenders, 15 midfielders and 15 attackers, who picked up the most votes, Fischer and harder were joined by four fellow Lady-Wolves - Almuth Schult, Babett Peter, Sara Gunnarsdottir and Ewa Pajor.
