All-rounder Ella Masar signs for the Lady-Wolves.

Women’s football Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg have secured the services of a renowned addition to their squad for the second half of the season: Making the move from Swedish first division outfit FC Rosengard during the winter break, Ella Masar has signed on with the Lady-Wolves until 2019. Just like Claudia Neto and Kristine Minde, who signed on free-transfers at the end of November, the 31-year-old also makes a free-transfer and is eligible to play for the Green-Whites in the Bundesliga and DFB-Cup as of the competitive re-start.

"Fits in with us perfectly"

"We are delighted to have been able to convince Ella Masar of a move to VfL Wolfsburg with our concept. She is an absolute all-rounder who can play in almost every position, she brings a great deal of international experience and she is a real team player. She fits in with our requirements perfectly and she is a top enhancement to the squad," stated Sporting Director of women’s football at VfL Ralf Kellermann. Ella Masar is also very much looking forward to the new challenge: "I am really happy about my new team, with so many great players that I will get to play with in the future. For me, VfL is the most professional team in women’s football, operating at the very highest level. The German style of playing football absolutely fascinates me. The blend of team-work and hard work in training really suits me perfectly. I can hardly wait to get started."

Third club in Europe

Born in the USA, the now Canadian passport holder made the move from American top-flight team Housten Dash to FC Rosengard for the 2016/2017 season. The Swedish side were Masar’s second club in Europe, having previously played for Paris Saint-Germain in 2011/2012. The talented all-rounder had won one cap with the US national team.
