…the opponents: “Fürth haven’t made a particularly good start, but it’s not so easy when you come up from the second division to the Bundesliga. We’ve followed all their games so I have to prepare the lads well – possibly for a number of systems now that they’ve signed new players, but that isn’t a problem for us.”
…the current standings: “Every game in the Bundesliga is difficult. You can see that from the fact that we’re the only team so far with nine points after three matchdays. Everyone else has dropped points already, which shows that not a single game is easy.”
…team news: “In addition to long-term absentees Bartosz Bialek, William, Paulo Otavio and Xaver Schlager, Kevin Mbabu has had problems with his knee and Jerome Roussillon has had a cold, but I think they’ll be fit to play. I’ll have to wait for training on Friday. Some of the lads have just returned from international matches or are still travelling. We have a strong squad so we can react if necessary.”
…the current workload: “We have a strong squad so we’re perfectly capable of managing the workload with the Champions League. We now play Saturday, Tuesday, Sunday – I’m not worried about that. I played in that rhythm for years during my career, the lads will manage just fine.”
