VfL Wolfsburg Women are set to have another of their key players at their disposal for the foreseeable future after 25-year-old Germany international Janine Minge extended her contract with the club, which was due to expire in 2027, until 30 June 2028.
“Decision quickly became clear”
“I don’t take it for granted whatsoever that VfL Wolfsburg placed so much trust in me right from the start,” said Minge. “I feel very happy here after just a short time, and the early extension shows me how much my efforts are appreciated and that the club is counting on me in the long term. That’s why the decision to continue my career here quickly became clear.”
“An absolutely key performer”
Ralf Kellermann, director of women’s football at VfL Wolfsburg, added: “Jani has been an absolutely key performer here at VfL from day one. With her consistent displays, she has played a major part in the development of our team on the pitch this season. It was therefore very important to us to secure her services for the long term. We’re convinced that Jani has everything it takes to assume a leading role in our team in the future.”
Bronze at the Olympics
After joining Wolfsburg from SC Freiburg last summer, Minge has appeared in all 12 Google Pixel Women’s Bundesliga games this season, as well as eight UEFA Women’s Champions League matches, a DFB Cup tie and the DFL Supercup. The midfielder won a bronze medal with Germany at the Olympic Games in Paris in the summer and has made 15 international appearances since her debut in February 2023.
