The VfL U19s lost 2-0 to FC Sevilla in their fifth UEFA Youth League match. The young Wolves only really got into the game in the second half and kept the contest open for a long time after Diego Gallardo’s early opener (15’), but Dario Benavides sealed the win for the Spaniards two minutes from time.
The young Wolves conclude their European campaign at home to OSC Lille on Wednesday 8 December. Kick-off at the AOK Stadion is at 16:00 CET.
Coach’s reaction
Christian Wimmer: “A point wouldn’t have been deserved today. We were second-best in every department. The opposition had the clearer chances and more possession in both halves. We didn’t get enough tackles in and didn’t create chances – we have to acknowledge that.”
