The Lady-Wolves secured a 5-0 win over BV Cloppenburg in the DFB-Cup 'Round of 16'..

At the third attempt, the Lady-Wolves finally booked their quarter-final place in this season’s DFB-Cup competition. With the ‘Round of 16’ clash against BV Cloppenburg twice falling foul to the weather conditions at the end of last year, on Sunday afternoon, the women from VfL Wolfsburg travelled to the second division side and progressed convincingly to the round of the last eight in the competition with a 5-0 (2-0) victory. The goals for the Green-Whites were scored by Lara Dickenmann (27') and Sara Gunnarsdottir (30'), debutant Ella Masar (76') and Alexandra Popp (78', 82'). At the quarter-final stage, the Lady-Wolves will play host to Bundesliga opponents SC Sand, the final opponents in 2016 and 2017, in the AOK Stadion.

"Massive compliment"

VfL head-coach Stephan Lerch: I must pay a massive compliment to my team. They went about this task with commitment and determination right from the first to the final minute and were never influenced by the poor condition of the pitch. We were actually surprised that the game was even allowed to be played on this pitch, which was partially frozen. It’s not necessarily about the unevenness of the surface, but rather that a frozen pitch is particularly slippery and slushy, putting the safety of the players at risk. That considered, we are happy not to have incurred any injuries and to have deservedly progressed to the next round.

BV Cloppenburg: Olthof – Löwenberg, Luker, Zürny, Dimitriou – Johanning – Flaws, van der Wal (77' Drescher), Moraitou, Radosavljevic (82' Müller) – Winczo (88' Hasenkamp)

VfL Wolfsburg: Schult – Blässe, Fischer, Goeßling, Peter – Gunnarsdottir – Dickenmann, Maritz (80' Minde) – Harder (62' Bernauer) – Popp, Jakabfi (62' Masar)

Goals: 0-1 Dickenmann (27'), 0-2 Gunnarsdottir (30'), 0-3 Masar (76'), 0-4 Popp (78'), 0-5 Popp (82')
