Comfortable win over Duisburg

VfL Women picked up a 2-0 victory over MSV Duisburg on Saturday.

VfL-Wolfsburg-Spielerin Fenna Kalma jubelt nach ihrem Treffer im Spiel gegen MSV Duisburg.

The She-Wolves won their second successive home game, beating MSV Duisburg 2-0 in front of a crowd of 2,677. Duisburg sat back for the entire 90 minutes and were largely unable to compete against a dominant VfL side in an unspectacular encounter, in which the Green-and-Whites deservedly beat the team at the bottom of the table. Fenna Kalma (7’) and Ewa Pajor (40’) got the goals for VfL.

Goals

  • 1-0 Kalma (7’): A lovely move down the left culminates with Jule Brand playing the ball inside to Pajor, who threads it on to Fenna Kalma. The unmarked Dutch attacker picks her spot and scores the opener.
  • 2-0 Pajor (40’): Another goal from a dead-ball situation! Nuria Rabano delivers a corner high into the box and Pajor climbs highest at the near post to head in VfL’s second.

Reaction

Tommy Stroot: “We were superior in a lot of aspects and deserved our 2-0 win. It wasn’t easy to play against a compact Duisburg defence, but we dominated well and I’m obviously pleased with the three points.”
