Comfortable friendly win

Lukas Nmecha scored a hat-trick in a 4-1 win over Hamburg.

The Wolves comfortably beat Hamburger SV 4-1 in their friendly on Wednesday afternoon. Lukas Nmecha, who started up front, scored a hat-trick (15’, 30, 60’), with Maximilian Arnold scoring the Green-and-Whites’ other goal (43’). Anssi Suhonen was on target for HSV (54’).
Deadline day signing Micky van de Ven enjoyed a solid debut in the centre of defence. An injury in the 14th minute to Yannick Gerhardt did cause worry, although head coach Mark van Bommel hinted afterwards that it’s not as bad as feared.

“Good from the start”

Mark van Bommel: “We looked good from the start, I’m pleased. It’s always a good result when you win. It was important for players like Lukas, Felix, Micky and Milli to get 90 minutes because after 70 to 75 minutes, you hit a wall which you have to get over. You can only do that when you play 90 minutes from time to time. For that reason, too, it was a very good test.”
