Comfortable home win

VfL Women beat Servette FCCF 5-0 at home in the UWCL.

VfL Wolfsburg Women delivered a statement of intent to their UEFA Women’s Champions League rivals, beating Servette FCCF 5-0 in their first group stage home match on Wednesday evening.

A Tabea Waßmuth brace (26’, 43’) and further goals from Svenja Huth (18’), Dominique Janssen (51’) and Joelle Smits (68’) earned the points for Tommy Stroot’s side in front of 869 spectators at the AOK Stadion as the Green-and-Whites climbed, temporarily at least, to the top of the group.

The She-Wolves are back in action at 13:00 CEST on Sunday 17 October, when they visit TSG Hoffenheim in the FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga.

Tommy Stroot: “I’m very happy with the performance and highly satisfied with the result. We got a comfortable victory and were completely dominant, which is all great. Despite the comprehensive result, you could tell that Servette deserve their place in the group stage.”
