VfL Wolfsburg Women welcome fourth-placed TSG Hoffenheim to the AOK Stadion in the FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga at 14:00 CET on Saturday. Ahead of the game, head coach Tommy Stroot spoke to the media about…
…the personnel situation: “Pia-Sophie Wolter, Shanice van de Sanden and Sveindis Jonsdottir are unavailable due to injury. Almuth Schult has tested negative and has already been building up her rhythm in training. If everything goes to plan, she’ll be in goal against Hoffenheim. Lena Oberdorf hasn’t had any problems after her appearance against Sand – she’s fully fit and available.”
…opponents Hoffenheim: “I really like the way Hoffenheim play. They try to find solutions by playing football and you hardly see any long balls in their build-up. The way their players move and switch positions is also very distinctive. You can see the philosophy of TSG, who promote most of their players from within their own youth system.”
…VfL’s 2-1 defeat to TSG earlier this season: “We were still having problems finding stability throughout the team, which we were unable to solve that afternoon. Looking back, though, it was clear that we solved certain situations well. We’re now a step further in many areas – in terms of stability, flexibility and our forward play. We now have to show that on the pitch.”
