Art museum exhibits painting by Joelle Wedemeyer

The She-Wolf’s work is on display in Wolfsburg until 25 August.

For VfL Women defender and icon Joelle Wedemeyer, painting is a big hobby. In the past, she’s mainly got creative for her family and friends, but now, thanks to a special collaboration, a work of hers is on display in a public exhibition in Wolfsburg for the first time.

“Always been a dream”

To mark the 30th anniversary of the Wolfsburg Art Museum, a cooperation was launched with VfL Wolfsburg. The particular highlight of this is the photo presentation ‘Sport Meets Art’, which contains a collection of emotional photos from Nina Stiller depicting VfL Wolfsburg’s greatest moments over the years – such as cup wins and Bundesliga titles. In addition to this, the latest work by Wedemeyer can be seen in the museum. “It’s still surreal for me that my painting is being exhibited,” said the 28-year-old. “Painting is a hobby for me, but this here has always been a dream of mine too.”

Auction for a good cause

VfL fans can admire Wedemeyer’s work at the Art Museum until 25 August. At the end of the exhibition, both Stiller’s photos and Wedemeyer’s painting will be auctioned off. “I’ll be happy when it finds an owner who enjoys it and likes it,” she added. “It’ll be the first painting that I’ve ever given to someone outside my circle of family and friends.” What’s also very important to her is that 100 percent of the proceeds from the auction will go to a charitable project. As soon as the auction begins, further information on that will be posted here and on VfL's social media channels.
