Anti-discrimination day of action

DFL foundation’s campaign against discrimination.

Against discrimination and for coexistence without prejudice: that’s the message of the DFL Foundation’s ‘Strich durch Vorurteile’ (cross out prejudices) day of action that will be taking place across the Bundesliga from 16th-19th March. VfL host FC Schalke 04 at the Volkswagen Arena on Saturday March 17th (kick-off 18:30 CET) and will be joining in with this campaign with various activities to promote peaceful collaboration between cultures. “We as a club have been engaged in social projects for many years, standing for diversity, tolerance, open-mindedness and inclusion,” said VfL Managing Director Dr. Tim Schumacher. “We therefore see it as an honour and an acknowledgement of this comprehensive commitment that the DFL will have a particularly strong presence at Wolfsburg on this day of action. It’s a wonderful opportunity to show the social initiatives that VfL Wolfsburg, supported by Volkswagen and the City of Wolfsburg, have undertaken throughout the season and just how seriously the club takes its social responsibilities,” he added.

Special kit promoting diversity

Together with Volkswagen, the Wolves will be making a very distinct statement this Saturday. The Green-whites will don a specially designed kit baring the slogan ‘Vielfalt’ (diversity) in place of the Volkswagen logo. “A clear commitment to diversity is an important element of our company culture,” stated Hans-Gerd Bode, director of corporate communications at Volkswagen AG and member of the VfL supervisory board. “We don’t really need to point this out to our 640,000 employees in 31 countries around the globe, but at this point in time it is important to send out a clear signal. Affirming diversity is the basis for respectful cooperation as well as being a source of creativity and inspiration,” he continued.
