Another knee operation

VfL Women striker Ewa Pajor will be sidelined for several months.

In what is a real setback both for the player and VfL Wolfsburg Women, striker Ewa Pajor is going to have to have a second operation on her left knee in the coming days, ruling her out for a number of months. A more accurate timeframe will only be possible at a later date once she has begun the recovery process.

Pajor suffered the injury during the last international break when she was on duty with Poland. It is the second time that the 24-year-old has had this problem, having been out for some six months after the 2020 Champions League final tournament in Spain and only returning to action in early March this year.

“A real shock”

“When we heard that Ewa had got injured again and that she would be out for another extended period, it came as a real shock to us all and obviously to Ewa in particular,” said Ralf Kellermann, VfL Women sporting director. “We have other very good options up front in our squad, but we know all too well that we won’t be able to replace her like-for-like. We’re all going to pull together though and do everything we can to overcome this loss. At the same time, we will give Ewa all the support we possibly can and everything she needs during this tough period as she begins the long road back to fitness.”
