"Another clean-sheet"

The Lady-Wolves intend to book their Champions League semi-final place with a committed display.

The door to the semi-finals of the UEFA Women᾽s Champions League was thrown wide open by the VfL women with their 5-0 home win in the round of the last eight against Slavia Prague last week. On Wednesday, March 28th (kick-off 18:00 CET), in the return-leg in the Czech capital, the Green-Whites need merely walk through that open door. Prior to the clash with the Red-Whites, VfL head coach Stephan Lerch spoke about…

…the possible approach of the hosts: I’m expecting to be faced by a team determined to give their all in front of their home fans. Prague will surely be looking to make good on the first-leg result with a committed display. They will fight, be aggressive and throw everything they have at us. We are prepared for that. On the other hand, I am expecting us to put the pressure on, maintain a high tempo, shift the ball around well, if possible keep a clean-sheet, whilst pressing for an away goal and then progress to the next round.

…the personnel situation: We have taken all the available players to Prague with us. As had been apparent, a heel injury means there are doubts about Pernille Harder. We’ll have to wait and see how things develop, but we don’t want to take any risks if there is a problem there. Otherwise, the rest of the players are fit. Even Lara Dickenmann has been able to train completely with the team again.
