VfL Wolfsburg’s new coaching team is taking shape, with Craig Fleming and Patrick Hasenhüttl named as assistants to new head coach Ralph Hasenhüttl. They will be supported in the future by Rainer Widmayer, who has worked as the point of contact between the academy and the professional team since September last year.

Craig Fleming and Ralph Hasenhüttl know each other from their time together at Southampton, where the 52-year-old was a member of the club’s coaching staff from 2015 to 2022. Fleming made over 500 appearances in English professional football during his playing days between 1991 and 2008. Former Austria youth international Patrick Hasenhüttl, 26, was forced to end his playing career for health reasons and will also join the Wolves’ coaching team with immediate effect.
